Type: Master of Science (MSC) – 5 years' study
Title: Electrical engineer, Machines and Devices

4) How long have you worked at Chantrey Vellacott DFK?

I joined Chantrey Vellacott DFK in November 2008 as a post room Assistant. After one year with the firm, I disclosed my ambition to become an accountant. The firm encouraged and supported me during my preparation for an interview and written tests with a training manager. I was successful after the first stage of the process and was invited to attend a further interview with the partner and managers of Business Service Unit. In September 2010 I was offered a post in BSU as an ACCA Trainee, with the opportunity to study towards ACCA qualification.

5) Why did you choose to join CVDFK?

Based on the research I have done, our firm has solid foundations and excellent values. I found out about the opportunity for graduate training and support which our firm gives to employees who want to develop within the organisation. I believe that CVDFK is a good fit for what I have been interested in throughout my career.

6) Describe a typical day as a ACCA Trainee.

Every day is different; I am never bored but constantly challenged. I spend my time working alongside some of the most impressive and intelligent people around and learn to solve complex but rewarding problems.

7) What elements of your role do you enjoy most?

Firstly, I think the most enjoyable aspect of my work is the fact that each day tends to throw up new challenges, preventing everything from becoming routine.
Secondly, teamwork - without colleagues I would not be able to gain a real insight into the work.

9) What is the most challenging part of your job?

Sitting exams is quite challenging for me, because I don’t have my colleagues around me.

11) Outside of work hours, what social activities are there?

One of my greatest passions is running. I decided to join the running team in CVDFK. So far we have done a few events together:’ Silverstone Half-Marathon’, ‘The British 10k London Run’ and ‘the 10k Mo Run Greenwich Park London’.

12) What training and support did you receive whilst at CVDFK?

For ACCA qualification there is a solid support system in place to help me study for the qualification. I am getting full financial and study support for my exams, and training.
I also really valued the one-week induction course, at the beginning of my new role.

13) How would you describe your work/life balance at Chantrey Vellacott?

I strongly believe the best balance is when you achieve and enjoy life, in each of your four life quadrants: work, family, friends and self. This allow me to consistently deliver high quality work

14) What do you feel sets CVDFK apart from other firms?

CVDFK is passionate about providing our clients with exceptional services and building strong relationships, that contribute to their business success. Moreover, our firm provides a wide range of services supported by the partners, who bring the perfect combination of experience, expertise and enthusiasm.

15) If you were to give someone one reason to join Chantrey Vellacott DFK, what would it be?

I feel privileged to be given the position at CVDFK and to be a part of such a great firm. CVDFK offers an opportunity to gain and develop professional skills and encourages employees to build and expand their careers.
